A little about my family…..I have three growing boys, two in high school, the oldest preparing for university next year!

A little about me & my family….My husband and I have three beautiful boys that are growing each day, curious, wondering, testing limits, and absolutely loving sports! The oldest will be off to university soon, very hard to think of this next stage in his life, while the youngest still looking for the right tree to climb! Our middle son is a an artist and also loves sports. We are tightly rooted to our family traditions and values, and following the traditions of our past, we continue to have Sunday meetings with extended family over brunch, lunch, or dinner. Its a really a wonderful time to come together to talk, share, and visit with family.

I was the previously the owner of a private school in Toronto, Canada called  Acorn School. The school closed in 2015 after 10 yrs but through continued support and determination, Acorn School continued to do consulting and workshops for teachers, parents and the community who were inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy. For those of you who know me out there you will know my passion for sustainability in food education and school gardens. I love the idea of  art, food, culture and values and bring these main ideas into everyday practices to help us define who we are and what we do. I believe everyone has a right to good food. This is probably a reason why I am so connected with the Reggio philosophy, the several principles fit into art, culture, food, and community.

A little history….But my history takes me a little further back, in 1994 as a Kindergarten teacher I was introduced to the Reggio Emilia philosophy and took my first visit to the schools of Reggio Emilia, Italy then. We can say the rest is history, or read a little more about my experiences and work in the website. I hope you will keep in touch and share your experiences with me as well, as this is still a journey and continues to be one.

Acorn Collaborative continues to collaborate with different people and within the community. We are on a path, a continuous journey, this path turns and curves along the way, finding new journeys along the way. Its been a long journey and I feel that’s only begun!

Nothing Without Joy!

Inspired by the work of the educators in Reggio Emilia and the everlasting words of Loris Malaguzzi
